Makes no sense other than Disney just wanting to promote their streaming service and IMAX/DTS trying to stay relevant. But at that point you’re watching something with streaming quality getting blown up on a huge screen so it’s a catch 22. But at home you get nowhere near that unless you sit ridiculously close to the screen and/or you have a huge projector screen. It makes sense theatrically on ‘real’ IMAX screens given how much of the audience’s field of view is covered by the screen (and the extra picture information goes way beyond the middle of your field of view). If if that taller AR was so important why didn't they just film the entire movie in that AR and release it in that AR on all screens? It is basically 1.85:1 lol. Unfortunately this is another nail in the coffin for the world of physical discs. They are probably waiting for IMAX Enhanced to take off The Russo Brothers Explain Why the IMAX Version of "Avengers: Infinity War" Didn't Make the Blu-ray - YouTube Or they are just saying that because they are on an IMAX Youtube channelĪvengers: Infinity War IMAX® Behind the Frame – Episode 1 - YouTubeĪlso, IMAX is the reason we are not seeing the IMAX version on homevideo The director's preferred the IMAX ratio for the last two Avenger movies.
